WINCHESTER WATER MEADOWS, HAMPSHIRE
Published circa 1846.
Drawn by Unknown : Engraved by Unknown
An original steel line engraving of the water meadows in Winchester from Dugdale’s England Delineated.
This framed antique print shows a view looking northward across the water meadows, towards the City of Winchester in Hampshire. In the foreground, the River Itchen flows through St. Catherine’s Lock, part of the now disused Winchester to Southampton canal. Artist and engraver unknown but much of Dugdale’s work was based on drawings by T. Shepherd with engravings by J. Greig and H. Wallis.
This print is mounted in an ivory conservation quality mount, surrounded by a new gold wooden frame with acrylic glazing. The print itself is in a good condition and has been lightly cleaned to remove some of the long-term effects of foxing, light and water damage and to help conserve it for the future. Price – £30.00
